Westway Trust is committed to working with artists, residents, groups, members and organisations to make the Westway estate and surrounding area an inspiring place to live, work and visit. We are passionate about the power of creativity to transform communities, create opportunities and encourage people to come together to make and experience dynamic arts and culture.

The aim of the Training and Professional Development Fund is to enable community arts workers, artists, creative practitioners, and other professionals working to advance the arts, creativity and culture, to develop their knowledge, skills and professional practice.

The intended outcomes are:

Increasing work of excellence within local arts and culture
The development of a sustainable creative and entrepreneurial ecology in North Kensington
An arts and cultural sector that is able to respond to the needs of communities.
We want to support self-defined activity that will develop creative, professional or technical skills and increase opportunities. We’ve created a simple application process to support a wide range of people and activity and want to hear about why the activity you’ve identified is the right opportunity for you.

Some examples include:

Attendance at conferences, seminars, trade fairs and other professional information-sharing events
An arts/creative management or leadership course (i.e. business planning, fundraising, project management, marketing)
A structured programme of technical skills development related to creative practice – Participation in workshops, residencies or master-classes that develop artistic practice
Professional career mentoring or coaching sessions
