Event Space & Equipment Hire

The area around the Westway is world-renowned for its cultural heritage, creativity, authenticity and activism. We have a range of venues available to hire for community arts, culture activities and events.

Eligibility

The spaces listed below are located in the public realm of the Westway estate. The spaces are suitable for a range of community activities. We generally do not charge a fee for community events and activities, however it is the event host’s responsibility to provide things like security, waste removal, toilets and other logistical considerations. We are unable to issue a license for use of the space without these measures in place, so we ask event hosts to consider these items and their associated costs. 

The spaces listed below are public spaces, so are generally not available for private events. For all private event enquiries, we recommend getting in touch with the following businesses who operate on the Westway estate:

*Some may not apply, depending on the nature of the event. Once collected, the paperwork is sent our Events Manager for further review, before a space license is issued by our Leasing Officer.*

Set-up and on-site assistance

During the event consultation process organisers will be invited for a site-walk with our facilities team to go over any technical requirements and assistance in setting up. Technical assistance required after officer hours and over the weekend will incur an extra charge.

African Caribbean Cultural Centre

Located beneath the Westway, at 6 Thorpe Close, just off the vibrant Portobello Road, this is a versatile event space run by the African Caribbean Cultural Centre LTD. The space is suitable for meetings, parties, exhibitions, community or commercial events. Availability:  Available for hire 7 days per week, 9am-5pm (with early opening and late closing by request) Mondays-Thursdays: Available for community, arts & Commercial uses. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays - Available for commercial uses. Adult Learning Tutor (Digital Skills)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Westway Trust as an Adult Learning Tutor - Digital Skills. Westway Trust is a community-guided organisation located in North Kensington which runs an adult learning programme of accredited and non-accredited provision across a range of subjects. We aim to enable people to progress in work, in learning and in life. Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and have different prior experiences of learning. The primary responsibility of the Digital Skills Tutor will be to design and deliver high quality, learner-centred teaching, and learning and assessment experiences to our employed and unemployed adult learners from Entry level to Level 1, while supporting the Adult and Community Learning Manager to achieve the Trust’s strategic objectives. This is a part-time, term-time only role.  The working hours will be discussed and agreed at interview stage. We are particularly interested in applications from enthusiastic, qualified and experienced teachers who are committed to enhancing the lives of people in our community. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced ESOL Tutor to design and deliver high quality learner-centered teaching and assessment experiences to our adult learners from pre-entry level up to level 1, whilst supporting the Adult and Community Learning Manager to achieve the Trust’s strategic objectives. Your Voice: Public Speaking!

The Westway Trust Transformation Funded, Our Community, Our Voice, started in January. The first session with Leigh Andrews is already sold-out! This is a dynamic series of 2-3-hour workshops runs throughout the year, offering monthly evening sessions designed to help you develop key skills, connect with your community, and amplify your voice. It is aimed at North Kensington Residents. For our second session, KCSC is delighted to host Dr. Dave Smith, lecturer, campaigner, author, anti-racist, and accomplished public speaker. Learning Team Coordinator

You will be a friendly and enthusiastic individual with strong administration experience along with excellent interpersonal and customer-facing skills who will be committed to working for a charity supporting and enhancing the lives of people in the North Kensington community.  Key responsibilities of the role include: Administrative Support Undertake administrative duties as directed by the Supplementary Schools Partnerships Manager and the Community Development Manager.
